The Tyndale Academy of Ancient Languages (TAAL) is an institute under Tyndale Theological Seminary dedicated to teaching biblical and ancient languages with academic rigor and active engagement. TAAL offers instruction in Ancient Greek, Biblical Hebrew, Latin, and Aramaic, using the Direct Method integrated with established theories from Second Language Acquisition (SLA). Through the coordinated development of reading, listening, speaking, and writing—alongside explicit grammatical instruction within the language itself—students gain a natural grasp of grammar and lasting fluency. TAAL serves students, teachers, and Bible translators worldwide, equipping the global Church to engage Scripture faithfully in its original languages.

Apprenticeship Certificate (starting Fall 2026)
The Apprenticeship Program equips Bible translators, translation advisors, teachers, and students to attain genuine fluency in Koine Greek or Biblical Hebrew through the Direct Method grounded in Second Language Acquisition (SLA). Structured as a mentored pathway, the program forms fluent readers, teachers, and translators who engage the Greek New Testament and Hebrew Bible directly. Moving beyond grammar-translation, participants learn to listen, speak, read, write, and think in the biblical languages, leading to deeper understanding, greater accuracy, and lasting mastery in service of the Church.

Making Biblical Languages Accessible: Tuition and Scholarships
At TAAL, we are committed to making high-quality biblical language education affordable and accessible to Bible translators/advisors, students and teachers around the world. We recognize that many faithful Christians—particularly those in the Global South, including Asia, Africa, Latin America, and other regions—face significant financial barriers to accessing excellent biblical language education. We want to bridge that gap, equipping as many students as possible with the best methods available for learning and teaching the biblical languages.
Why we do what we do
TAAL exists to equip a global community of students, teachers, and translators to read, teach, and translate the biblical languages with fluency, depth, and faithfulness through active, communicative instruction.
